Drama exam today.

Yesterday at the last minute I was like, "I'M DOING ANOTHER MONOLOGUE KTHX." Our play is shit, but we're being individually marked. So that means I'm taking over the spotlight, if only for a while.

I may be an underachiever in other subjects, but I make up for that in drama where *just* an A isn't good enough.

Ugh. We had our GCSE drama public performances tonight. It wasn't awful, but... ughh. Lets just say, I got stuck with kind of a shitty group of people to work with on it. Which makes it hard to really do something powerful. :/

I wish they could just mark me in Sweeney Todd, or .. something.

Well, they gave Mrs. Lovett to the older girl. I was disappointed when I first heard this, but really the more I think about it, the more I think the role they DID give me (the beggar woman, aka Lucy Barker) will be a lot of fun.

What I was told was that they still weren't sure who was better for the part even after the callback audition yesterday, that it was extremely close, blah blah blah. But ultimately they decided this other girl was slightly better at the acting bit, whereas I was slightly better at the singing bit. Since the beggar woman is primarily singing, that just meant in light of the other facts it would make more sense to choose her for the lead and me for the role I got.

I *am* really proud of myself because I got one of the few large roles (and by that, I mean, I got one out of three possible major characters, since they didn't want to do cross-gendered parts in this production) even with all the competition from the older people. (Many of whom do drama for A-Level and probably want to be professional actors someday... *evil grin*) My drama teacher told me NOT TO CRY, expressly, because there were going to be so many other people who were going to be so much more upset because they just didn't get in at all.

All that said... Whatever play they do next time, I'll get the lead then. ;)


ETA: Is it just me, or is Jamie Campbell Bower (who played Anthony in the film) exceedingly cute? :D...

I think I'm going to be going on a day trip to London with Darcy for my birthday this year. Which means we'll be spending excessive amounts of time and money in Camden. Which has lots of pretty things in it. Like goth shops and Cyberdog and other orgasmic things. Oh yes.

(This also saves my parents from having to think of something to get me and then find time to go out and get it. So, lots of convenience on their part.)

I'm hoping this month will be okay... despite the fact that Kendra's going back to America for a bit (actually during my birthday, come to think of it) so when she gets back she's bound to bring some kind of drama with her. And there is no V-Day this year because the boyfriend that I actually do have this time is leaving me to go to a viking festival in York during said holiday with his boyfriend Ted.

There's a price to pay for dating geeks when they are of different geekdoms to your own. But I think he's going to have fun, so I'm happy about that.

Mmmmm... Right now I'm listening to Bjork and trying to motivate myself to finish off the English coursework my teacher threatened me about last lesson. In spite of this, I feel very calm. It's nice.

Tomorrow is the call-back audition for Sweeney Todd. I'm not nervous yet. In fact, I feel really good about it. Maybe I won't get the part I want; I've accepted that. But at the same time, I feel like this is my passion, and I'm going to give this everything in me if only for the thrill of doing it at all. I don't care what anyone else thinks or says or does... I'm just going to go for it. :)

So yesterday were the auditions, and I thought I was okay but not the top of my game. The singing was easy - I've gotten MUCH better at not getting nervous and letting it spoil my voice - but the acting bit I slightly flubbed. (I mean, in that I forgot what I was saying, and actually cursed under my breath. OH WELL.)

Apparently that didn't matter though, because despite a LOT of girls auditioning for the part (Mrs. Lovett, the lead), one of the drama people had me come in so they could explain that they couldn't decide between this older girl and myself.

So on Monday I have to go to the drama department and they will RECORD me (and also her) singing "Poor Thing," which is fine because I know the song by heart already. The recording thing is a little intimidating though, because I don't know what I sound like in digital form but I imagine it's not amazing.

Regardless, whichever of us that doesn't get Mrs. Lovett will get a big part (so basically, either the beggar woman or Johanna). Which is awesome! But I still want the main part. And I'm going to try my damndest to get it. Even if it means I have to kick some 6th-form-A-level-small-skinny-perky-has-a-friend-with-a-belt-that-says-"Jesus rocks"-on-it ass.

(Not literally of course, I suck at fighting.)

Today I essentially got Leo and my father to hang out. I think it went well. Neither of them want to kill each other, anyway.

I showed him his first ep of XF - I think I have a long way to go with him before he's a hardcore fan, but it's only a matter of time. ;)


Okay. They're doing a production of Sweeney Todd at my school. Auditions are next week. I'm. So. Going. Fucking oh my god.

Today was the big drama performance; it went reasonably well. I think I scared some of the audience members. It made me happy. <3

Leo and Ruby were there, which was the highlight of the whole thing. My family went too, but my dad was the only one that really gave anything resembling a shit. (Metaphorically speaking of course.)

Now I've got school on Tuesday. And I have coursework to do. Joy.

The skin on my right arm hurts and I have *no* idea why.

And yes, just the skin... in this one little patch.

It's not bruised, scraped, or discolored in any way as far as I can tell. It just hurts. o_O

I'm assuming it has something to do with the work we were doing today in drama. A professional director was working with us on physical acting, so there were plenty of opportunities to hurt myself and not realize it.

Even so... what the hell happened?


I'm feeling a little bit frustrated.

I really want to get back into art. I mean, as in, the drawings on pieces of paper kind. I started this relatively short manga-inspired-comic a while back, but now that I'm doing shit again and don't have as much time on my hands, I can't get around to working on it right now. And this isn't going to stop, because drama ends next Saturday, and on the following Tuesday I'm back in school.

And I also still have coursework that's due the day I go back. Which I promised my teacher would kick ass, so I have to spend a fair amount of time on it because breaking promises to people I like makes me sad.


Ugh. Whine, whine, whine. That's all I do. xD

I so love drama. And I so love singing. And I so love that we're doing singing in drama. And also that I had both drama and my singing lesson today.

Does anyone know what it's like to just... find your calling? I mean, yes, maybe some day I'll decide it's not for me afterall. I don't know, or care. But right now, it's exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. It's amazing.

I am also in a good mood today because my Hot Topic order finally arrived. (After a small amount of annoyance because of "Parcel Force," which is something I'm not sure if they have in America...) But oh my god, extremely forceful parcels. That carry beautiful items that I shall wear proudly and not care that they came from a chain store, because they were like half the price of what they'd be in the UK.



When I got home today there was a banana on my bed. I later discovered there was a condom on it. (Which I had not seen at first because it was dark in there..) I found out soon enough this was courtesy of Darcy.

It's probably wrong that I found it to be normal behavior on her part...
